LETHBRIDGE HERALD JUSTIN SEWARD Medicine Hat Tigers net minder Beckett Langkow stretches out for a save in the first period of a 3-2 loss Tuesday night in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes.

The Medicine Hat Tigers couldn’t shake the holiday cobwebs Tuesday night.

The Tigers fell behind early and lost 3-2 in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes. Medicine Hat entered the break with a 4-1 win over the Kelowna Rockets on Dec. 17.

The Hurricanes got on the board first with two goals within the first 10 minutes of the hockey game. Joe Arntsen found the back of the net with a power play goal 7:15 into the game before Logan Warmold potted his 13th goal of the year 2:17 later.

A little over four minutes later, Brendan Lee sent a backhand shot up and over Hurricanes’ net minder Harrison Meneghin to bring them within one. Dru Krebs and Reid Andresen had the assists on Lee’s 19th goal of the year.

The Hurricanes reestablished their two goal lead with 4:51 left in the second period, scoring their second power play goal of the game when Warmold scored his second of the contest, the eventual game winner. The Tigers went 0-for-6 on the man advantage.

Medicine Hat drew within one with .2 seconds left in the third period and the hockey game, when Owen MacNeil scored on a shorthanded breakaway. MacNeil’s fifth goal of the year was also the Tigers fifth shorthanded goal of the campaign.

Despite the last push the Hurricanes held their lead, edging out the Tigers 3-2. Meneghin made 16 saves and across the ice from him, Tigers net minder Beckett Langkow turned aside 26 shots.

The Tigers (13-18-4-1) are back in action Wednesday night when they face the Swift Current Broncos for the first time this season. That game gets underway at Co-op Place at 7 p.m.
