Ringette roundup: U14 Mud Dawgs sweep weekend at home

The Medicine Hat U14 Mud Dawgs hosted the Airdrie Snipers on Sunday at the Moose Recreation Centre and won both of their contests.

The Mud Dawgs won the first game by a score of 7-3 and also came away with the win in their second game by a score of 8-2.

The Mud Dawgs are second in their division heading into the Holiday break.

The Mud Dawgs are on break until Jan. 15 where they will play against the South Calgary Blackout and South Calgary Ambush in Calgary.

U16

The U16 Matrix travelled to Calgary on Sunday for a double header against the NW Calgary Rage.

In the first game the Matrix came out with a strong game and won 7-1. Their offence came from Jordy Provost with three goals, Kasey Martin with two and Mckenzie Tindall, Ryleigh Jackiw and Ava Allchurch with a goal each. Grace Ammann had four assists.

In their second contest, the Matrix came out again strong for a 12-3 win. Goal scorers were Provost with three, Karly Stennick and Tindall with two and Ryleigh Jackiw, Kasey Martin, Ammann, Erika Want and Bella Heinrichs each scoring a goal. Jackiw, Allchurch, Tindall each had two assists as well.

The Matrix go into the Christmas Break with six league wins in the Calgary Ringette League to put them on top of the standings. The Matrix next action is in the Regina Ed Benning Tournament Jan. 6-8.
