The Matrix hosted the Bow View Heat for a double header at the Moose Sunday, beating them 7-2 in the first game and 5-2 in their second match. The Matrix outshot the Heat 50-23 in their first meeting, with Jordy Provost leading the way with three goals. Ryleigh Jackiw had a goal and an assist and Kasey Martin, Mackenzie Tindall and Grace Ammann each added a goal. In game two, the Matrix were outshot 45-43 with Kyree Stern standing tall in net. The offence was led by Ammann who had two goals and Karly, Tindall and Jackiw each scored a goal. The Matrix will travel for games next Sunday, facing the Calgary NW Rage in a double header. U12 The Medicine Hat Phoenix played NW Cobras for a double header on Saturday and split the contests. The Phoenix won the first game 7-4 with Sophia Smith helping lead the team to the win in net. Brea Butterfield had two goals and two assists, Breanna Lanuk and Kassidy Etienne each and Lacey Gibney added a goal of her own. In the second game, the Phoenix lost 12-7, falling short despite Jacqueline LeBlanc’s effort in net. Lanuk had a hat trick, Butterfield had a goal and two assists, Ally Martin, Gibney and Etienne each scored a goal. The Medicine Hat U12 Phoenix’s next action is Dec. 21 when they’ll take on the Medicine Hat Minor Hockey U11A Maple Leafs team in a charity game where they will be collecting cereal for the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub. That contest gets underway at 4 p.m. at the Moose Recreation Centre. U10 The U10 Step 3 Gators were in action over the weekend playing a double header against the Rocky View Fusion. Brylee Dirk was in net for the first game and their offence came from Brinley Cross with two goals, Arika McDowall and Annalise Robins. The Step 3 Gators rebounded from the loss and picked up their first win of the season, winning 9-8 with Grace Stirling in net. Robins led the way with three goals, McDowall added two of her own and Cross, Annabelle O’Reilly, Evangeline Robins, and Danna Sawchuk each added a goal of their own. 15
