Minor Hockey Roundup: U13AA MH Hounds split weekend contests

The Medicine Hat U13AA Hounds split their weekend slate of home games.

Friday night the Hounds beat the Taber Golden Suns 11-7 before falling 5-3 on Saturday against the Wheatland Braves.

In Friday’s win, Chase Droeske led the way with five goals. Everett Ward (two goals and an assist), Evander Leupold (one goal and two assists) and Hudson Gross (three assists) each had three points.

Carter Jarvis had two goals and George Maser added one of his own. Beckham Girletz, Gage Bowall and Maven Ibach each had two assists and Bryden Tschritter made 20 saves in the win.

Lucas Fisher had a goal and an assist for the Hounds on Saturday, with Carter Gilchrist and Droeske each adding a goal. Paxton Smigelski made 31 saves.

The U13AA Hounds (12-3-4) are off until Jan. 6.

U15

The U15AA SEAC Tigers picked up a point over their weekend, tying the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-5 on Saturday before losing 7-2 on Sunday against the Red Deer Steel Kings.

Rhyder Arnold had two goals and an assist in Saturday’s tie. Griffin Aadland had two goals and Jon Jackle had a goal with Logan Neuls adding three assists and Karter Kurpjuweit notching two assists of his own. Mac Harvey-Zenk made 35 saves in the draw.

In Sunday’s loss Mavric Ward and Brogan Verishine each scored a goal and Kayden Van Ham made 49 saves.

The U15AA Tigers (2-11-3) have two games this weekend, facing the Lethbridge Hurricanes on the road Friday before hosting the Taber Golden Suns on Saturday.

The U15AAA Tigers had one game over the weekend, a 10-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Carson Ward and Ilya Khazov each had a goal and Grady Brost and Hudson Corbett made 38 combined saves.

The U15AAA Tigers (1-16-1) are off until Jan. 6.

U16

It was a winning weekend for the U16AA Medicine Hat Hounds, who tied the Okotoks Oilers 4-4 Saturday before beating the CBHA Hawks 4-3 on Sunday.

Nolan Sutherland had three goals and Kian Green added a marker of his own in the tie, Parker McLaughlin made 30 saves.

Leighton Verishine led the way in Sunday’s win with two goals. Davin Torgerson had a goal and an assist, Grady Ford added a goal and Sutherland had two assists. Adam Ranger made 31 saves in the win.

The U16AA Hounds (6-2-4) have two home games this weekend, they host the CBHA Hawks on Saturday and the NWCAA Bronks on Sunday.

U17

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers lost their only game of the weekend, falling 4-1 to the Calgary Bulls on Saturday.

Treyson Girletz scored the Tigers lone goal and Kolter Gans made 34 saves in the loss. The Tigers (5-7-2) have two games this weekend, hosting the Bulls on Saturday before hitting the road to face the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sunday.

U18

The U18AA Medicine Hat Hounds split their weekend contests, losing 4-3 against the CNHA Gold on Saturday before winning 6-1 Sunday against the Olds Grizzlys.

Brennan Wereley had a goal and two assists in Saturday’s loss with Connor Palmer and Jacob Hazzard each adding a goal and an assist. Tyler Wakelam made 38 saves.

In Sunday’s win, Gavin Smith led the way with two goals and an assist. Brandyn Baird, Kaden Pahl, Hazzard and Palmer all had a goal and an assist against Olds. Silas Currie – who was an emergency backup for the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday against the Medicine Hat Tigers – made 23 saves in the win.

The U18AA Hounds (6-9-2) have one game this weekend, hosting the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday.
