Tigers lose in Red Deer 5-2 Wednesday

By James Tubb on December 7, 2022.

The Medicine Hat Tigers lost in their second game of the week.

The Tigers allowed five straight goals Wednesday night as they fell 5-2 in Red Deer against the Rebels. Medicine Hat came into the game on a high after beating the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-2 on Tuesday.

Both teams traded chances in the first period, with the Tigers carrying a lot of the pace before Red Deer took over. Kai Uchacz and Christoffer Sedoff scored for Red Deer in the last 2:15 of the frame as they jumped ahead 2-0.

Red Deer carried their momentum into the second frame with an early goal from Jace Isley, who was stopped on a breakaway before scoring on a penalty shot. Jayden Grubbe ended Beckett Langkow’s night a little over five minutes later with his seventh goal of the year.

Langkow made 12 saves before Evan May came in for relief and turned aside 13. Uchacz added another goal in the second frame, finding the back of the net on a power play.

The Tigers avoided the shutout early in the third period with Brayden Boehm’s 10th goal of the year. Tyler Mackenzie had the only assist on Boehm’s goal as the Red Deer product has points in three straight games.

Brendan Lee found the back of the net with a power play goal 13:54 into the period. Bogdans Hodass and Evan May had the assists on Lee’s 11th power play goal and 16th marker of the year. The late offence was too late for the Tigers in the 5-2 loss.

Medicine Hat (10-14-4-1) is back in action Friday when they travel to Lethbridge to battle the Hurricanes before hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday.
