Tigers win 4-2 in Edmonton Monday

The Medicine Hat Tigers opened their week slate of games in a big way.

The Tigers beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-2 Tuesday night for their third straight road victory.

Tuesday’s win is the first of four games this week and eight games in 12 days. 

Edmonton opened the scoring 3:31 into the contest with a goal from Rilen Kovacevic, but just short of six minutes later, Oasiz Wiesblatt scored his 12th of the year to tie the game up at 1-1. Tomas Mrsic and Reid Andresen had the assists on Wiesblatt’s power play goal.

Neither team scored in the second period but the Tigers poured 25 shots on Edmonton net minder Kolby Hay but the game remained 1-1.

The Tigers finally found the back of the net on Rhett Parsons’ second of the year. Brendan Lee and Oasiz Wiesblatt had the assists on Parsons first goal since opening night.

Tyler MacKenzie scored a little under three minutes later when he knocked in a loose puck on a break away attempt from Andrew Basha. The goal was reviewed but it was ruled a good goal for MacKenzie’s 10th on the year.

The Oil Kings brought themselves within one on a power play goal from Noah Boyko with 5:36 left in the game. Medicine Hat regained their two goal from on a one-time blast from Bogdans Hodass. Basha and Cayden Lindstrom had the assists on Hodass’ fourth of the year.

The Tigers held on for the 4-2 win, Beckett Langkow made 16 saves in the win. 

Medicine Hat (10-13-4-1) is back in action Wednesday when they head to Red Deer to face the Rebels for a 7 p.m. game. They’ll be in Lethbridge on Friday against the Hurricanes before hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday at Co-op Place.
