Minor Hockey roundup: U18 Hounds split weekend series

The Medicine Hat U18 Hounds split their weekend at home and on the road.

The Hounds hosted the Bow Valley Timberwolves on Saturday and lost 8-1. Joey Hackett had the Hounds’ only goal and Silas Currie made 37 saves.

On Sunday the Hounds beat CNHA Black 4-2 in Calgary. Connor Palmer had two goals, Gavin Smith had a goal and an assist and Jacob Hazzard rounded out the scoring with a goal of his own. Tyler Wakelam made 26 saves in the win.

The U18 Hounds (3-7-1) have two games this weekend, hosting the Taber Golden Suns on Saturday and facing the Central Alberta Selects on Sunday.

U17

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers had one game over the weekend, a 3-2 loss against the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday. Cash Olson and Colby Gulliver scored for SEAC and Kayne Wright made 36 saves.

The Tigers (4-4-1) have two road games this weekend, facing the South Side Bulldogs on Saturday and the Red Deer North Star Chiefs on Sunday.

U15

The U15AA SEAC Tigers faced the West Central Tigers on Sunday, a 7-2 loss in their only game of the weekend. Rhyder Arnold had both of Medicine Hat’s goals and Kayden Van Ham made 23 saves.

The U15AA SEAC (2-7-2) are off until Dec. 3.

U13

The U13AAA Hounds hosted the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday and lost 9-6. Carter Gilchrist led the way offensively with one goal and two assists, and Cole Siewert and Hudson Gross each had a goal and an assist.

Mason Pollard, Evander Leupold and Chase Droeske each had a goal in the loss. Marshall Turner made 20 saves for SEAC.

The U13AA Hounds (8-2-3) have two games this weekend, with a road contest Friday against the Lethbridge Hurricanes and a home game Saturday against the Okotoks Oilers.
