Rattlers women’s b-ball falls Friday night

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers women’s basketball team could not keep momentum Friday night.

The team fell 77-48 against the Kings University Eagles at the Snake Pit to open their weekend.

A big first half from the Eagles separated the two clubs, and the Rattlers trailed 40-19 after two quarters.

Alia Boulanger led the Rattlers in scoring in the loss with 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes of play. Brynn Bremner was not far behind, picking up six rebounds, three assists and eight points during her 27 minutes played.

The Rattlers had a stronger second half Friday, only trailing the Eagles by eight over the remaining two quarters of the contest. Boulanger also made seven of her 10 free throws. Aneilia Ayotte was the Eagles’ offensive leader, putting up 34 points, three rebounds and three steals in 28 minutes on the court.

The Rattlers women’s team (0-5) are back at the Snake Pit on Saturday when they host the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder at 1 p.m.

The Rattlers men’s team also took on the Eagles on Friday but that game was not complete by time of press. They’ll face Concordia’s men’s team Saturday at 3 p.m.

Rattlers Volleyball

in Calgary

The Rattlers women’s and men’s volleyball teams were in Calgary on Friday night taking on the Kings University Eagles.

The women battled but fell in three sets (25-11, 25-16, 25-14). Zaira Miller-Shackleton and Emily Berringer each had three kills for the Rattlers, and on defence, Hailey Adams had nine of Medicine Hat’s digs.

Sam Lieuwen led the Eagles women’s team with 10 kills.

The Rattlers men’s game got underway after the women’s but was not complete by time of press. Both Medicine Hat’s women’s and men’s teams head to Concordia University in Edmonton on Saturday to face the Thunder.

Golfers named all conference

Four Medicine Hat College Rattler golfers were named to the Alberta Colleges Athletic All-Conference team Friday morning. Women’s golfer Libby Bourassa and Chase Broderson, Colby Friedrich and Jayden Dudes of the Rattlers men’s team received the honours.

All four competed for MHC at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship hosted by Durham College in Ajax, Ont. from Oct. 18-21.

Friedrich and Broderson finished in the top 10 of the tournament and Dudas tied for 12th. Bourassa finished in 14th on the women’s side.
