The U17AAA SEAC Tigers’ only game of the weekend went into extra time and fans in attendance had some free hockey to watch.
The Tigers lost 4-3 in overtime Sunday afternoon against the Calgary Northstars at the Hockey Hounds arena.
Kellin Hodgson and Garrett Janzen scored in the first period for SEAC and after falling behind 3-2, forced a tie with a third period goal from Joey Clarke. Kayne Wright made 34 saves in the extra time loss.
The Tigers (3-1-1) have two games this weekend, hosting the AC Avalanche on Saturday before hitting the road Sunday to take on the Calgary Royals.
U18
The U18AA Hounds came out of their weekend of games with a point after a Friday night tie.
The Hounds tied the CRAA Gold 6-6 on Friday before dropping their Saturday contest against the Okotoks Oilers 10-2.
In Friday’s tie, Jacob Hazzard had two goals and an assist, Gavin Smith had two goals and Connor Palmer and Joey Hackett rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist each.
Tyler Wakelam was between the pipes and made 48 saves.
In the Hounds’ loss to Okotoks, Hazzard led with a goal and an assist and Blake Doesenberger had a goal. Owen Gudmundson made 33 saves in net.
The Hounds (2-5-1) have one game this weekend, facing the Airdrie Lightning on Saturday.
U15
The U15AAA SEAC Tigers had two home games this weekend and lost both. They were shutout 3-0 Saturday against the Calgary Northstars, Hudson Corbett made 20 saves for the Tigers.
On Sunday the Tigers fell 3-2 to the Calgary Bisons. Ethan Hall and Treyden Kleinknecht had the offence with a goal each and Grady Brost made 35 saves in the loss.
The U15AAA Tigers (0-9) have two games upcoming, as they face the Airdrie Xtreme on Saturday and the Calgary Flames on Sunday, both on the road.
The U15AA SEAC Tigers had two games of their own, as they lost 14-0 Friday against the Wheatland Warriors before beating the Foothills Bisons 9-1 on Sunday.
Kayden Van Ham and Mac Harvey-Zenk split duties Friday, making a combined 39 saves against Wheatland.
In Sunday’s win, Brogan Verishine had two goals and four assists, narrowly edging out Brody Dick for leading scorer with two goals and three assists. Ethan Grad had four goals on the afternoon and Jon Jackie, Kane Bishop and Karter Kurpjuweit each had two assists. Van Ham had 31 saves in the win.
The Tigers (2-4-2) have only one game this weekend, as they face the Red Deer Steel Kings on Sunday.
U13
The U13AA Hounds (6-1-2) had two games this weekend, as they lost 9-5 on Saturday against the Olds Grizzlys before beating the Foothills Bisons 14-1 on Sunday.
Everett Ward and Lucas Fisher each had two goals against Olds, with Trevin Ibach adding a marker as well. Braden Tschritter had 31 saves in the loss.
Against Foothills, Carter Jarvis filled the scoresheet with five goals and an assist. Carter Gilchrist had three goals and an assist, Chase Droeske had three goals and Cole Siewert added a goal and two assists. Ward notched a goal and a helper and Evander Leupold had a goal to round out the offence. Mason Pollard and Fisher each had two assists.
Paxton Smigelski had 24 saves in the victory.
