Two golfers, Colby Friedrich and Chase Broderson finished in the top 10 at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship in Durham, Ont. last week. Friedrich’s round-four score of 69 was tied for the low round on Friday and moved up him up to fifth place overall. His 13-over total score on the foundry tournament was nine shots back of winner, Matthew Bremer of the Humber College Hawks. Broderson tied for eighth at 17-over with Rattlers’ teammate Jaydan Dudas finishing tied for 12th at 19-over. Rounding out the Rattler golfers, Matt Taylor ended the week in 34th at 49-over and Jonathan Bartman tied for 49th with a total score of 91-over. The Rattlers men’s team as a whole placed fourth at 91-over. Libby Bourassa was the only Rattler in the women’s championship., finishing 14th with a total score of 83-over. Her ACAC team was fifth at 142-over. Basketball The Rattlers men’s and women’s basketball teams made their first returns to the Snake Pit since early 2020 this weekend. Both squads fell to the SAIT Trojans in their home openers. The women’s team dropped a 57-43 decision. Alia Boulanger led the way in scoring with 11 points and two rebounds. The men’s team fell 88-82, with Ethan Robinson scoring 21 points with six rebounds and four assists. Both basketball teams have a two-game set in Red Deer against the Poltechnic this Friday and Saturday. Volleyball The Rattlers men’s and women’s volleyball teams had a home-and-home series with the SAIT Trojans. After losing in three straight sets on Friday in Calgary, the Rattlers men’s team won 3-1 on Saturday. The women’s team had a reverse weekend, as they won 3-1 in Calgary on Friday before losing in three sets to SAIT back home Saturday. Both the men’s and women’s teams host the Red Deer Polytechnic for home matches on Friday and Saturday. Soccer Both the Rattlers soccer teams were to play on Saturday in Calgary against the Ambrose Lions before a snow-covered pitch resulted in the cancellation of the games. 18
