sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Medicine Hat College Rattlers golfer Colby Friedrich is in striking distance of first place through two rounds of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship. Friedrich was atop the leaderboard on day 1 of the tournament hosted in Durham, Ont. After day 2 he sits in second place at 2-over par, two shots back of Simon Menard from André-Laurendeau Boomerang. Friedrich and the rest of the Rattlers battled through chilly, windy and sometimes rainy conditions in the first two rounds at the Deer Creek Golf Club northeast of Toronto. Rattlers golfers Jayden Dudas and Chase Broderson sit just outside of the top-10 at 11-over and 12-over, respectively. Dudas is in 11th place and Broderson is tied for 12th. Matt Taylor sits at 34-over and Jonathan Bartman is at 43-over as they are tied for 45th and in 49th place respectively. The Rattlers men’s team is in the middle of the action, sitting in fifth place of the 10-team field at 52-over par. The Humber College Hawks lead the group at 29-over. Libby Bourassa is the only Rattler competing in the women’s side. She is at 35-over, in 13th place. She shot an 86 on Tuesday and ended her Wednesday round with a score of 93. Her Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference women’s team is at 68-over and sits in fifth place. The third round of action gets underway today at 10.a.m EST and the tournament finishes up Friday afternoon. 9
