Ringette Roundup: Mud Dawgs open season on high note

The Medicine Hat U14 Mud Dawgs got their ringette season started in a big way this weekend.

They hosted the Bowview Aces for two contests Sunday at the Kinplex and walked away with wins in both games.

The Mud Dawgs took the first contest by a score of 5-1. The game started off with saves from Mud Dawgs goalie Sadie Berstad and a goal scored by Kenzie Provost. The score was 1-1 after the first period. In the second frame, the Mud Dawgs received offence from Eden Schmunk, Kensie Provost, Sutton Provost and Sloane Berstad.

The second game was all Mud Dawgs as they beat the Aces 11-3.

Bowview scored first but it was not long before the Mud Dawgs answered with two goals each for Leighton Wright and Sloane Berstad. Reese Tabor, Kenzie Provost and Schmunk also added goals. The Aces were held to two goals in the second period by Medicine Hat goaltender Emma Pinnell. The Mud Dawgs had four more goals in the second period scored by Sloane Berstad with two of her own, Wright and Sutton Provost.

U19

The Medicine Hat U19 Chicken Hawks played two games Saturday in Calgary. They took the first game 8-3 against the Bow View Rush. In their second game against Bow View Voltage, they tied 6-6. The Chicken Hawks play next in Medicine Hat on Oct. 30 against the Airdrie Sting for two games.
