For the second time in its history, PBR Canada is looking to bring a bucking good time to Medicine Hat.

The Professional Bull Riders of Canada’s Elite Cup Series is making its return to Medicine Hat on Saturday night at Co-op Place with the Robertson Implements Classic.

The PBR Robertson Implements Classic is the seventh event of the 2022 PBR Canada Cup Series. The tour launched April 23 in Winnipeg and has travelled across Alberta and Saskatchewan prior to arriving in the Hat. PBR Canada’s Elite Cup Series debuted here in 2021 when two-time PBR Canada Champion Zane Lambert from Ponoka went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the tour stop and surge to No. 2 in the national standings.

The PBR tour arrives in the Hat in the final weeks of the season amidst a feverish race to be crowned the 2022 PBR Canada Champion and earn the accompanying $50,000 bonus. Logan Biever leads the standings in the No. 1 rank, but the nation’s top five are all within 76 points of each other, including No. 2 Nick Tetz, who is just 28 points back, followed by Blake Smith (-33.17), Dakota Buttar (-39.5) and Brock Radford (-76).

Tetz will make his bullriding debut in Medicine Hat on Saturday and says he is looking forward to the show. Besides himself, the Calgary product says fans in attendance Saturday should watch out for Brock Radford and Ashton Sahli, his touring partner.

“Ashton would be the sleeper pick there, he was really hot in the month of July,” Tetz said. “His hip started bothering him and he needs to get surgery on it, but he’s still gonna be there. He’s one of the most exciting riders, and his head is going to hit the ground first, not his feet. He’s definitely an exciting rider to watch, that’s for sure.”

Tickets for the event, which gets starts at 7 p.m., can be purchased at Tixx.com.
