The Medicine Hat U16AA Hounds found themselves on both sides of success this weekend at the Kinplex.
The Hounds opened their two game stretch with a 5-1 loss to the CRAA Gold on Saturday. Nolan Sutherland scored the Hounds’ lone goal while Adam Ranger had 46 saves in the loss.
The U16AA Hounds bounced back with a 4-2 win on Sunday against the Airdire-Bow Valley Havoc. Logan Weiss, Sutherland, Lighton Verishine and Kian Green all scored for the Hounds and Parker McLaughlin had 42 saves in the win.
The Hounds (2-1) are on the road next weekend taking on the West Central Panthers and Lethbridge Hurricanes.
U18
The U18AA Hounds opened their season on Oct. 1 with a 5-4 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Brandyn Baird had three goals and an assist in the loss with Gavin Smith and Blake Dosenberger rounding out the scoring with a goal each. Tyler Wakelam had 43 saves in the win.
The Hounds were in Taber on Saturday and lost 5-2 to the Golden Suns. Trae Got and Smith scored for the Hounds and Owen Gudmundson had 34 saves in the loss.
The U18AA Hounds’ (1-1) next action is Friday at the Kinplex against the Foothills Bisons before playing in Strathmore on Sunday against the Wheatland Chiefs.
U17
The U17AAA SEAC Tigers opened their season on Saturday with a 3-2 win over the Lethbridge Headwater Hurricanes. Joey Clarke, Kayden Yeaman and Heath Geekie scored for the Tigers with Kayne Wright had 18 saves in the win.
The Tigers (1-0) are on the road this weekend with two contests against the AC Avalanche and Calgary Flames.
U15
The U15AAA SEAC Tigers were on the road Sunday as they lost 5-2 to the Calgary Royals. Ethan Hall had both of the Tigers goals and Hudson Corbett had 32 saves in the loss.
The SEAC Tigers’ (0-3) next game is Friday in Lethbridge before they head to Okotoks on Sunday.
The U15AA SEAC Tigers got their weekend started at the Hockey Hounds arena with a 2-2 tie against the Central Alberta Selects on Saturday. Logan Neuls had a goal and an assist and Liam Green rounded out the scoring with a goal of his own. Kayden Van Ham had 27 saves in the tie.
The Tigers hosted the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday and lost 6-2. Mavric Ward and Rhyder Arnold had the offence for Medicine Hat and Van Ham made 25 saves in the loss.
The U15AA SEAC Tigers are in Lethbridge on Friday before hosting the Wheatland Warriors on Sunday at the Kinplex.
U13
The U13AA Medicine Hat Hounds won big this weekend in both of their contests, beating the Foothills Bisons 14-2 on Saturday and winning 11-3 against the Airdrie Lightning on Sunday.
Carter Jarvis led the Hounds offence on Saturday with three goals and two assists. Chase Droeske had three goals and an assist, Beckham Girletz had two goals and two assists, Mason Pollard put up a goal and three assists, Cole Siewert had two goals and an assist and Everett Ward, Carter Gilchrist and Gibson Studer had a goal each. Both Trevin Ibach and Lucas Fisher had three assists each.
Braden Tschritter had 19 saves in the win.
In Sunday’s win against Airdrie, George Maser led the way for the Hounds with three goals and an assist. Ward had two goals and two assists for Medicine Hat, while Girletz and Pollard had a goal and two assists each. Gilchrist had two goals and Droeske and Fisher each had a goal. Evander Leupold and Jarvis had three assists for the Hounds.
Paxton Smigelski had 20 saves in the win.
The U13AA Hounds have one game this weekend as they host the Foothills Bisons on Saturday at the Kinplex.
