jtubb@medicinehatnews.com@ReporterTubb The McCoy Colts continue to gain confidence throughout their 2022 season and that carried into Friday night. The Colts lost 47-8 at the Methanex Bowl in exhibition action against the Calgary Ravens but head coach Jole Krassman said his team is starting to get gritty as the season wears on. “At the start we had maybe half the team playing and we’re really starting to see guys coming around,” Krassman said. “We’re seeing some young guys stepping up and now that they’re building into the system, now that we’ve had some real tough games, we’re playing tough.” After the Ravens got a couple of touchdowns early, McCoy got on the board in the second quarter with two points after making a tackle in the end zone. The Colts continued their momentum and picked up their first touchdown of the season in the loss, on a drive capped off with a rushing touchdown from Carsen MacDonald. Krassman said he’s starting to see his team build confidence through their reps. The Colts head coach thanked the Ravens for making the trip for the exhibition contest in what was the first matchup ever between the clubs. He said both teams hope to make the exhibition game a regular occurrence. McCoy heads into the final week of regular season action with an Oct. 14 night contest against the Brooks Buffalos. Krassman said after enjoying Thanksgiving weekend they’ll work next week on building off their successes. “Brooks is going to be a tough team but I think we’re very comparable. I know that we both had a pretty rough season,” Krassman said. “It’s just going to come down to who wants it more and that’s the message this week. Can you trust the process, trust the grind and school and beat the team in front of you.” 9
