The Crescent Heights Vikings couldn’t get the ball rolling Thursday night.

The Vikings hosted the Claresholm Cobras at the Methanex Bowl and despite leading early, lost 47-6.

The Vikings entered Thursday’s game coming off of an 53-0 win over the McCoy Colts on Sept. 23.

Crescent Heights opened the scoring in the first quarter against the Cobras with a rushing touchdown from Grade 12 athlete Abdul Kiawen. The Vikings had their extra point blocked on the drive.

The Cobras got on the board in the first quarter with a field goal of their own. Claresholm led offensively the rest of the way as they scored five touchdowns and a field goal across the remaining three quarters for their eventual 47-6 win.

The Vikings’ next action is Oct. 7 when they head to Okotoks to face the Okotoks Composite Falcons.

Around the city, the Hat High Hawks are in Foothills tonight taking on the Eagles. They enter that contest coming off a 27-9 loss to St. Jospeh’s Grande Prairie. The Colts, coming off their loss to the Vikings, are in Taber on Saturday to face the Rebels.
