How the 2022-23 Tigers roster was built

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on September 23, 2022.

The Medicine Hat Tigers roster, like all Western Hockey League Clubs, have been constructed through multiple methods.

Whether players were acquired in trades, through free-agent signings, the WHL Prospects Draft or the CHL Import, they all have made it to the same level of junior hockey.

Here is how the Tigers’ 2022-23 roster was built.

Free agent signings

The Tigers have two players who signed with the club as free agents after going undrafted. Beckett Langkow (G, 19, Vegreville, Alta.) signed with the Tabbies in Apr. 2020. Cru Hanas (F, 17, Dallas, Tex.) put pen to paper with the Tigers in Nov. 2021. Alex Drover (F, 20, Port-aux-Basques, Nfld.) and Dallon Melin (F, 20, Czar, Alta.) joined the Tigers ahead of 2022 training camp.

Trade

Brendan Lee (F, 20, Seattle, Wash.) and Pasha Bocharov (D, 18, Escondido, Calif.) were both acquired by the Tigers on Dec. 28 from the Saskatoon Blades in a three-way deal which involved the Prince George Cougars.

Owen MacNeil (F, 19, Calgary, Alta.) was acquired by the Tigers ahead of 2021 training camp.

CHL Import Draft

Oskari Kuntonen (F, 20, Lahti, Finland) was a 51st overall selection in the 2020 Import draft.

Bogdans Hodass (D, 19, Jelgava, Latvia) was take 71st overall by the Tigers in the 2021 Import draft.
