The McCoy Colts and Crescent Heights Vikings will rekindle their inner-city rivalry on the gridiron once again.

The two Rangeland Football Conference teams are set to face off Friday at the Methanex Bowl for the second time this season. The Vikings took the first game, winning 33-3 on Sept. 1.

Vikings head coach Scott Wendell said he is looking forward to the game as both teams have gotten better since their first meeting.

“That first game of the season is always kind of challenging to get ready for that one, so I know they’re going to come out better as a coaching staff and as a group of athletes, and they’re a little bit fired up,” Wendell said. “Nobody prepares to lose or anticipates a loss so I know those kids have been spending Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday getting ready to win.”

The Vikings come into the contest after winning 49-0 against the Brooks Bombers. The Colts are looking to bounce back from a 62-0 loss against the Hat High Hawks last week. McCoy head coach Jole Krassman said after the loss he drew a positive from his team’s never-say-die attitude.

The Colts and Vikings kick off their game at 7 p.m. The Hawks are on the road Friday against Grande Prairie.
