Medicine Hat’s Gas City Crossfit was on full display when it hosted the Sun City Shakedown Competition on Saturday.
There were 13 teams of two (either two men or two women per team) competing in two divisions. All teams completed four workouts throughout the day of competition.
Melissa Griffen and Chantelle Larson, the “Swole Sisters” of Leduc, were the first-place intermediate women’s finishers ahead of Medicine Hat’s Brooke Rikstad and Annette Johnston, ‘Old Granny, Young Panties’ team.
The intermediate men’s division was won by Jeremi Murphy and Gab Nyvoll, team ‘Young and Handsome, and Jeremi’ from Leduc.
Hatters Jonny Unger and Mark Harris, ‘The Cunning Stunts,’ finished in second with Matt Rood and Ethan Suelzle, ‘That’s What She Said’ finishing in third.
The RX ladies’ and men’s competitions were all Medicine Hat affairs as Brittny Jordan and Lisa Gervais, team ‘Margret & Charlotte’ finished in first of the ladies division with Katie Kereluk and Nallie Friesen, ‘Big Guns & Bad Lungs’ finishing second.
Tyler Garrecht and Jordan Carlier, ‘If only making money was this easy’ won the men’s RX division with Sean Wheeler and Edward Lipin, ‘Here for the free shirt’ in second place and Mike Reimer and Hieland Mayzes, ‘The Two Packs’ in third.
