The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association held its final points weekend of the season Friday through Sunday.
Arnie Dillman from Prelate, Sask., opened the weekend with a win in Street Friday race ahead of Herb Nagel from Cypress County. Calgary’s Adam Hettler won the Friday Night Bike race with Jay Dudley from Calgary finishing in second.
On Saturday, Brandon Peck Carseland won the Jr. Thunder race with Medicine Hat’s Austin Markusson finishing in second.
Morgan Caron from High River won the Jr. Lightning race with Darian Dopp from Medicine Hat finishing in second.
The Junior Street race was a Cypress County affair with Paige Munsch finishing in first and Luke Munsch finishing in second. Calgary’s Kathie Archambault won the Sportsman race with Jordan Meyers from Medicine Hat finishing in second. Brent Buckenham from Carseland won the Pro race with Ken Tolsdorf from Blackfalds coming in second place.
Prelate, Sask.’s Arnie Dillman won the Super Pro race with Danny Holmedal from Maple Creek coming in second. Jay Dudley from Calgary won the Pro Bike race with Zach Toth from Medicine Hat finishing in second.
The MHDRA also hosted a rained-out race from June 19 on Saturday.
In the rained-out races, Austin Markusson from Medicine Hat won the Jr. Thunder race, with Ella Jennings, also from the Hat, finishing in second. Allyson Keim from Claresholm won the Jr. Lightning race with Kiandra Gaetz from Medicine Hat finishing in second.
Dunmore’s Hope Burkitt won the Junior Street race ahead of Paige Munsch from Cypress County. Tanya Bennett from Okotoks won the Sportsman race with Gord Ruetz from Medicine Hat coming in second. The Hat’s Chance Edelmann won the Pro race with Isaac Stettner from Regina finishing in second. Joel Bowen from Calgary won the Super Pro race with Rachelle Fleck from Medicine Hat finishing in second. Dave Toth from Medicine Hat finished in first and won the Pro Bike race ahead of fellow hatter Kyle Valk.
Sunday’s races got underway with Medicine Hat’s Danica Jennings taking the Jr. Thunder race ahead of Austin Markusson, also from Medicine Hat. Cole Caron from High River won the Jr. Lightning race ahead of Justus Schaan from Dunmore. Luke Munsch from Dunmore won the Junior Street race ahead of Hope Burkett from Dunmore. Medicine Hat’s Marlin Ulriksen won the Sportsman race with fellow Hatter Brian Nagel finishing in second.
Kathie Archambault from Calgary won the King of Track race with Calgary’s Jay Dudley finishing in second. Isaac Stettner from Regina won the Pro race with Medicine Hat’s Chance Edelmann finishing in second. Tyler Steinkey from Dunmore won the Super Pro race with Medicine Hat’s Tanner Gaetz finishing in second. Zach Toth from Medicine Hat won the Pro Bike race ahead of fellow Hatter Riley Toth.
Paige and Luke Munsch won the Dragway’s Jr. street program, which gives teenage boys and girls 13-16 the opportunity to race against their peers in full-bodied street vehicles ,with an adult co-driver as their teammate, combining racing and car safety.
