Zeller leads local drag racers at Western Canadian Summer Classic

The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association hosted the third annual Western Canadian Summer Classic this weekend at the strip.

Tyler Zeller from Medicine Hat was the Saturday double-winner, beating Derek Rose from St. Albert in the main event box/no box run-off and finishing first ahead of Darren Sutton from Stettler in the car shootout/no box race.

Chestermere’s Jason Padd opened the weekend by winning Friday’s main box/no box run off over Lorenz Schwarz from Langley.

Saturday’s race got underway with Morgan Caron from High River winning the junior run-off race ahead of Ashton Katnic from Maple Ridge, B.C.

Zeller won both of his races before George Leblanc from Creston, B.C. won the car shootout/box ahead of Dalton Gereau from Leduc County.

Faith Loblick from Gibbons, B.C. won Sunday’s junior runoff race ahead of Danica Jennings from Medicine Hat.

Airdrie’s Eric Goulden won the main event box/no box run-off beating Jason Padd from Chestermere.

The drag strip’s next event is the CMDRA Bike Drags on Sept. 10-11.
