The Medicine Hat U15 RASC boys soccer team added to their trophy case in a big way.

The U15 squad won gold at the Alberta Soccer Association provincial championships held in Lethbridge this weekend. They were undefeated in all four games, winning the gold medal match on Sunday 4-2 against EMFC Calgary, who represented the top team in Calgary.

Ira Hozack scored two of Medicine Hat’s goals in the final alongside Irman Omerovic and Brody Miller, who rounded out the scoring with a goal each.

The Medicine Hat RASC boys also beat the Edmonton Southwest Sting as well as Red Deer Renegades and New Frontier SC.

In an email to the News, coach Damir Omerovic said he the team went through some ups and downs all season but was proud to see how they ended their year.

“What a great year it has been working with this group of young men. I’ve been coaching some of these boys only for a year, some for two and others for an eternity and I’m super proud of all of them and to see where they are today,” Omerovic said.

“The team went through ups and downs this year playing over 60 games between the indoor and outdoor season and its great to see that all their hard work and commitment to this “beautiful game” has paid off.

“It was great watching them build off their provincial indoor bronze medal with a gold today. Our Medicine Hat club can compete with any club in the province, which is exciting to see. I’m excited for what comes next for our boys and for our RASC Academy.”
