Hatters climb the ranks at Day 2 of Senior Men’s Champs

Medicine Hat will be well represented on the final day of the Alberta Senior Men’s Championship at Desert Blume Golf Course.

Seven Hatters made the cut Thursday to put them in contention for the championship and for the opportunity to play at the Canadian Championship in Red Deer from Sept. 6-9.

Kelly Risling from Medicine Hat sits tied for first place after shooting 70 in his second round.

The six other Hatters to make the cut were: Brad Norton tied for 12th (72), Warren Gnam tied for 18th (78), Bill Bishop (84) and Warren Clunie tied for 36th (79) and Perry Rasmussen (81) and Darin Dunlop (78) tied for 51st.

Locals Bryan Cowan (82) and Sparky McCulloch (91) did not make the cut.

A total of 120 golfers started the three day tournament on Wednesday.

The final rounds Friday get underway at 7:50 a.m. with the final group, including Risling, teeing off at 10:50 a.m.

The championship is expected to be awarded around 3 p.m.
