Mavericks pitchers Bryce Libke started the sixth inning and Jack Suhai worked the last two outs before he pitched the seventh inning.

Medicine Hat got on the board in the top of the seventh, as they scored four runs to cut Swift Current’s lead to 10-4.

The Mavericks runs came from SS Ranciel Ventura scoring on a wild pitch, a bases loaded walk from LF Christian Rush, a sac fly from CF Braden DeSonia and 2B Deon Reese scoring on an 57’s error.

Nate Ewing worked the bottom of the eighth inning on the mound for Medicine Hat and held the 57’s at bay. Medicine Hat stepped up to the plate in the ninth inning and after the first two batters were retired, Suhai put on a helmet for his first WCBL at bat.

Suhai drew a walk and later scored as the Mavericks halved Swift Current’s lead to 10-5 before the home team shut the door to seal Medicine Hat’s loss.

The Mavericks(16-33) are back in action Saturday when they travel to Weyburn to take on the Beavers.
