Monarchs, Knights stumble in their weekend contests

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs and Medicine Hat Knights 18U baseball teams hit a patch over the weekend.

The Monarchs dropped both of their contests Friday in Montana against the Helena Senators. They fell in the first contest 12-3. Payton Eddy started the contest on the mound four five strikeouts in four innings pitched. Jeff Bullock came into the game from the bullpen and threw 1.2 innings before Koby Eskestrand worked the final 1.1 innings of the game.

Trevis Ressler led the Monarchs offensively with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

In their second contest the Monarchs fell 15-5 to the Senators. Ressler led the team offensively again with two hits and three RBIs in the loss.

Evan Morrison started the game on the bump for the Monarchs with one strikeout in 3.1 innings. Bullock worked an inning out of the bullpen with a strikeout before Hayden Hall pitched an inning himself.

The Knights took on the Lewistown Redbirds Friday in Montana and lost 10-0. Dylan Amundson had the Knights lone hit in the loss. JJ Harnett, Amundson, Pryce Velichko and Cole Carlson all pitched for Medicine Hat in the contest.

In their second game Friday, the Knights faced the Lethbridge Miners and ultimately fell 16-5. Landon MacPherson was the Knights offensive leader with three RBIs on one hit.

Mace Carriere started the contest and pitched 1.1 innings. Parker Hunt, Brody Walter, Cade Moch and Harnett pitched in the loss with a combined two strikeouts.
