MedHat Lawn Bowling crown Yardstick champ

The Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club hosted its fourth annual Yardstick Tournament Saturday.

A yardstick tournament is regular lawn bowling, except all the bowls within a yard of the jack are awarded points. In normal lawn bowling, scoring is the same as they do it in curling.

Players took part in three rounds of eight end games. Before each new game, teams were re-drawn and points were earned by the player’s team carried forward with each player and counted in the final results.

The ladies had a tie for first place with Pat Dennis and Linda Bower sharing the honours. In second was Jean Bresee and third place went to Barb Moll.

The men’s champion was Mike Gilchrist with Frank Buck coming in second. Wes Bresee was third.
