Bulldogs compete at track provincials

The Medicine Hat Bulldogs Track and Field Club competed alongside the province’s best earlier this month.

The Bulldogs competed at the Athletics Alberta Outdoor Provincial Championships in Calgary from July 8-10.

The track and field club picked up four silver and two bronze medals with five top-five placings as well.

Laine Gautier competed at the U16 male level and won a silver in discus and two bronze medals in the 300m and 800m races. He also set personal bests in the discus and 300m. He competed in the 1200m and placed fifth.

Lexine Rodriguez Velez competed in the U16 female division and picked up a personal best in the 800m race with an 18th place finish. She also competed in the 1200m and the 2000m race and finished 16th and 13th respectively.

Justina Renke won two silvers at the U20 women’s level, finishing second in the javelin and discus events.

Bulldogs coach Sean Freeman won silver in the Masters Male discus event and finished fourth in javelin.

The Bulldogs are gearing up for the final track and field meet of the year. They’ll be competing Thursday through Saturday at the Sherwood Park Track Classic/Tri-Province Championships.
