Monarchs nab win in Montana trip

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs 18U baseball team is in Montana this week for some international action.

They opened their road trip Monday with a 13-1 loss to the Missoula Mavericks. Kyle Woolridge and Trevin Ressler had the lone hits in the loss and Fischer Haysom had the lone RBI. Hayden Hall, Dylan Lefler, Woolridge and Koby Eskestrand all pitched in the contest racking up a combined four strikeouts.

The Monarchs had a rematch with the Mavericks that night and ultimately fell 13-3. Cade Harrison led the way offensively with two hits and three RBIs. Payton Eddy started the contest on the mound and picked up three strikeouts in four innings of work. Ryler Straarup and Eskestrand split the fifth inning with Eskestrand picking up a strikeout.

Medicine Hat picked up a win Tuesday, an 11-1 victory over the Kalispell Lakers AA. Harrison collected the win on the mound without allowing a hit and ringing up two strikeouts in five innings pitched. Evan Morrison led the way offensively with four hits and two RBIs. Ressler was not far behind with two hits and four RBIs in the win.

The Monarchs took on the Lakers later Tuesday and lost a close 6-4 battle. Morrison again led the way offensively with two hits and two RBIs. Lefler started the contest and worked four innings with a strikeout. Ressler came in for relief and threw three innings with six strikeouts.

Knights continue Montana trip

The Medicine Hat Knights 18U baseball team was in action over the weekend in Montana.

They opened the weekend with a two-game set against the Lewistown Redbirds. The Knights dropped the first contest 14-1. Dryden Pidlisny led the way offensively with a hit and an RBI. Landon Macpherson started the contest on the hill and pitched 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Cole Carlson and Wryder Welte entered the game from the bullpen and each threw 2.2 innings.

The Knights were shut out 16-0 by the Redbirds in their second matchup. Talen Crockford had the lone hit with Brody Walter starting the contest on the mound. Dylan Amundson came into the game for relief and pitched three innings.

Saturday the Knights took on the Havre Northstars 18U team and fell 12-2 in the first contest. Pryce Velichko and Parker Krauss each had two hits in the loss. Cade Moch started the contest and pitched 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Mace Carriere threw 1.2 innings out of the bullpen with two strikeouts and Pidlisny worked the final out of the contest for Medicine Hat.

The Knights took on the Northstars a second time Saturday and fell 13-3. Brody Walter led the Knights offensively with two hits and two RBIs. Parker Hunt started on the mound and worked an inning before JJ Harnett and Talen Crockford combined for the last three innings.
