Medicine Hat was well represented at the Canadian Outdoor 3D Archery Championships this weekend.

Three archers from the Medicine Hat Archery Club, Dan David, Monty and Ilsa Vanderwesthuisen competed at the national championships tournament in York, P.E.I. and all three managed to make it to the podium.

Monty Vanderwesthuisen won gold in the longbow class, Ilsa won silver in the ladies longbow competition and David in the master 60 class.

Monty finished the target courses in third but managed to win in the shoot-downs and David finished the courses in second but slipped to third in the shoot-downs.

The three Hatters were a majority of the Alberta representation as two other archers competed for the province.

“(I’m) very proud Med Hat continues to produce top notch shooters and shows on the podium at national events,” David said in an email to the News. “I won’t soon forget my trip to P.E.I., a great experience and so many awesome people.”
