MedHat drag strip celebrates 30 years this weekend

It’s a special weekend at the Medicine Hat Drag Strip.

The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association is celebrating 30 years of racing at the strip with Thunder on the Plains, including 12 divisions such as super quick, super gas, Jr. street, Jr. Thunder and more starting Friday through Sunday.

Saturday’s time trial races start at 9 a.m. and the races, featuring Funny Cars, will last until 9 p.m. with a live band to follow afterward.

The races Sunday kick off with 9 a.m. time trials and elimination races starting at noon.

Spectators can get into Saturday’s races for $20 and $10 for Sunday’s.

Gates open Saturday at 8 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday.
