Shere-E-Punjab cricketers hold two day tourney

The Shere-E-Punjab cricketers from Medicine Hat organized a two-day cricket tournament, which was held at the Southland Park cricket grounds on July 9 and 10.

Teams from Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton took part in the tournament. After the league matches, the first semifinal was played between Shere-E-Punjab and Kerala Cobras, and the second semifinal was played between Lethbridge Hunters and MH Sloggers.

In the final match, Shere-E-Punjab captain and Wicketkeeper Balli took three catches, and with the help of bowling by Edward and fielding efforts by his team members, they restricted the Lethbridge Hunters to a total of 63 runs, as Shere-E-Punjab chased the target of 64 runs.

With wristwork and footwork, captain Balli, Simar and Parth put on a batting masterclass with some power hitting and won the tournament in 6.3 overs.

Ranjeet Gaekwad and Shiv Kumar presented the trophy and $1,000 to winning team captain Balli, with runners up, the Hunters getting a trophy and $500.

Vinod was adjudged the best batsman, Edward best bowler and Mr Harpreet best fielder.
