Med Hat Knights host own tournament over weekend

The Medicine Hat Knights 18U baseball team hosted their home tournament this weekend at Jeffries Park.

The Knights had four contests, taking a victory in one of them.

They opened their tournament with a 17-15 loss to the Cranbrook Bandits on Friday afternoon. 

Parker Krauss led the way offensively with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. The Knights had six pitchers in the loss with JJ Harnett, Cole Carlson, Pryce Velichko, Cade Moch and Wryder Welte all working on the mound. 

The Knights took their second game, by beating the CPBA Redbirds 4-3. Harnett led the way offensively in the win with two hits and two runs scored. Welte knocked in the winning run in the sixth inning.

Moch started the game for the Knights and had four strikeouts in three and a third innings pitched. Parker Hunt came into the game in relief and put up three strikeouts in an inning and a third of work before Carlson picked up the win with two strikeouts in two innings pitched.

The Knights had trouble in their Saturday contests, falling 14-4 against Vauxhall and 13-0 to the Midwest Prairie Pirates.

Moch led the Knights offensively against Vauxhall with a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Mace Carriere was the starter and itched three and two thirds innings before Dylan Amundson took over on the mound. He registered one strikeout in his two innings of work.

Against the Prairie Pirates, Dryden Pidlisny, Moch and Welte each had a hit in the loss. Brody Walter started the game and worked two innings with a strikeout. Hunt took over on the bump and threw two innings of his own before Landon Macpherson worked the final inning  for the Knights.
