The Medicine Hat Tennis club held its annual Barrie Shave Classic tournament this weekend.
Calvin Heller and Jin Shin defeated Dave Reinheller and Craig Weich 6-3, 6-3 to capture the Men’s Open Division championship.
In the consolation finals, Mark Thorogood and Nick Douvis defeated Brock Hale and Evan Mueller 6-4,5-7,6-3.
Cory and Isaac Streifel defeated Mulu Gebre and Alex Stevens to win the Men’s Intermediate Division 7-5, 6-3.
Lorne Pretzlaw and Mike Dykstra won the consolation finals by defeating John Ambrosi and Gary Laurent4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Linda Norris and Kristen Wenzel took the Women’s Open Division championship by defeating Tracy Heller and Dannan McElroy-O’Driscoll 7-6, 6-7, 6-2.
Rocheal Howes and Corrine Peters defeated Megan Ciona and Atte Garcia in the consolation finals 7-5, 6-4.
In the Women’s Intermediate Division, Una Weich and Joanne Anhelher defeated Pam Douville and Gabi Hale 7-5, 2-6, 7-6.
Anna Wirzba and Irene Giesbrecht defeated Rose and Maryn Paulgaard6-4, 6-2 to take the consolation finals.
The next event at the tennis club is the Summer Mixed Doubles Tournament running July 8-9.
