By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on May 25, 2022.

The Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club Victoria Day Classic returned to action this weekend.

Despite frost delaying tee times both Sunday and Monday morning, the Classic was able to crown a champion for the first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Redcliff’s Ryan Werre was crowned the men’s championship with a round three score of 70 after shooting a weekend-best 5-under par to open the classic.

Ryan Hodgins finished second, three shots back. Mitch Kurtz was five strokes back of Werre to finish third.

Kelly Risling captured the senior men’s championship after he birdied the first playoff hole. Ed Wagner took second place after the playoff and Perry Rasmussen finished third.

Becky Martin won the ladies championship with a third round score of 70 after putting up scores of 84 and 78 Saturday and Sunday. Cathy Fisher was 16 strokes back in second and Jean Nitchke took third one stroke behind Fisher.
