The Medicine Hat Boxing Club competed at the Alberta Golden Gloves in Edmonton last weekend.

Medicine Hat’s Nate Vossler lost to Graeme Owens from Cougar (Edmonton) in the 54 kg Jr. C division to take home silver.

Sam Schick from MHBC defeated Connor Ferrier from Cranbrook by second-round stoppage in the 57 kg Youth Schick moved on to the Finals and lost a split decision to Brody Andre from Lacombe.

MedHat Boxing coach Kerry Falhman said Schick was down in the fight ahead of the third round but gave him two consecutive 8 counts and hurt Andre once more late in the round, but the bell rang and no 8 count was given. Fahlman said had Schick received the 8 count, the fight would have been over by ruling. Schick took home the silver for his efforts.
