Colts sweep Wednesday doubleheader

The McCoy Colts baseball team continued their winning ways Wednesday, picking up wins in two contests.

The Colts opened the afternoon doubleheader with a 19-5 win over the Catholic Central Cougars out of Lethbridge. Caleb Garrecht pitched four innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out six to earn the win. McCoy’s offence was led by Zach Hauck, who went 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs and Jackson Bowal, who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

In their second game, the Colts continued the offence picking up a 14-3 win over the Kate Andrews Pride.

Kayne Olinski came in relief to pitch 3.1 perfect innings to earn the win. Olinski did not allow any hits or walks while striking out five batters. Evan Morrison led the Colts offensively going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and 4 RBIs. Kyle Woolridge had two triples and two runs scored while Olinski chipped in with two hits and two RBIs.

The McCoy Varsity squad have a record of 3-0 on the season. Next action for the Colts is Tuesday when the LCI Rams come to the Hat for a 5:30 p.m. contest at Jeffries Field.
