Monarchs starting season hot

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs 18U baseball team is off to a strong start in the 2022 season.

Last weekend the Monarchs went 4-1 against the Badlands Badgers and Edmonton Padres.

The Monarchs split their two-game series with the Badgers on Friday, winning the first game 14-11 and dropping the second 7-3.

Kobe Ekestrand struck out four in his 3.1 innings of work before handing the ball over to Dylan Lefler who was credited with the win, going 3.2 innings with four strikeouts as well.

Trevin Ressler led the way offensively, driving in four runs on three hits. Jeff Bullock had three RBI’s on three hits of his own.

Evan Morrison was on the hill for the Monarchs in their 7-3 loss, striking out three in five innings of work as Graceon Little, Cade Harrison and Ressler all had multiple hits in the loss.

Ressler picked up the first win against Edmonton, winning 5-1, with nine strikeouts in six innings. The offence was spread out with multiple Monarchs collecting hits to bring in the runs.

In their second game against the Padres, the Monarchs took a late lead before winning 6-1 Saturday afternoon. Payton Eddy pitched the entire game, striking out 11 over seven innings. Morrison knocked in two runs and Kyle Woolridge had two hits in the win.

The Monarchs picked up their third straight win with a 10-4 routing of the Padres on Sunday. Cade Harrison started the game with eight strikeouts in four innings, with Bullock picking up the win in three innings of work. Graceon Little had two RBIs in the win Sunday.
