YMCA names Watson campaign ambassador

The YMCA of Medicine Hat announced a prestigious local ambassador for their 2022 Strong Kids campaign Wednesday.

Canadian Olympian Sage Watson was announced as the local YMCA’s ambassador for the campaign that raises money to ensure any individual can access programs such as day camps, youth classes and fitness memberships, regardless of financial circumstances.

Watson made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016 where she advanced to the semifinals of the 400m hurdles and anchored Canada to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400m relay. She repeated those results in her second Olympic appearance at Tokyo 2020, where the 4x400m relay team missed the podium by just six-tenths of a second.

The YMCA has a variety of initiatives planned to support the Strong Kids campaign in the coming months, including the annual River Run on June 18.
