jtubb@medicinehatnews.com@ReporterTubb Three Medicine Hat teens will represent Alberta at youth nationals in May after finishing top three in their age categories at youth provincials in Ponoka in late February. Jaliam Kochie and Chloe Kequahtooway finished in the top three of the senior girls division and Sofia Mcfarlane finished in second in the junior girls to punch their tickets to Toronto for nationals. The 19-year-old Kochie finished second overall and made team Alberta for a third time in the final year of her youth career. Mcfarlane, 14, also finished second and made Team Alberta for the very first time. Kequahtooway finished third overall in the senior group and is the alternate for senior youth girls. Southeast Alberta youth darts coach Rob Kochie said he couldn’t be more proud of the girls and his team. “They practice and play real hard,” Kochie said. “It hasn’t been easy the last two and half years, as we haven’t been able to play youth darts because of COVID-19. But with true dedication on their part they found a way to succeed.” 9
