SAHA women’s team have big weekend on B.C. road trip

The South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 women’s team took two of three games on the road in over the weekend.

Friday night they were shutout 2-0 by the Okanagan Hockey Academy 2-0. Devyn Amundson made 31 saves in the loss.

Saturday SAHA got in the win column, beating the Delta Hockey academy U17 squad 3-2. Brooke Johnson scored her first and second goals of the year and Kendal Davidson scored early in the third as SAHA held on for the win. Maddy Ferguson was between the pipes and turned aside 20 shots for her third win of the season.

The women’s team finished off their weekend roadie with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Pilot Mound U18 hockey academy. Alyssa McCasey, Janaya Laqua and Davidson all scored in regulation time for SAHA and Téa Pearce potted the overtime marker winner. Amundson rebounded from Friday’s loss, stopping 13 of the 16 shots she faced in game for her fourth win of the season.

The SAHA women’s team is back in action Feb. 18-20 for a four game, three day road trip to finish their regular season.

Mens

The SAHA mens U18 team had one contest over the weekend, a 3-1 loss to Northern Alberta Xtreme Saturday.

Ephram McNutt scored for SAHA and Brock Lott made 24 saves in the loss. The men’s team is back in action this weekend for a two game series at the Big Marble Go Centre.

They host the Prairie Hockey academy Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
