Minor Hockey Roundup: U16 SEAC Tigers split weekend

South East Athletic Club’s U16 AAA Tigers rebounded from a 7-4 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Lethbridge Headwater Hurricanes on Sunday.

Julian Laqua led the Tiger offence on Sunday with a goal and an assist, while Jesse Klimosko and Will Bell both had two helpers.

Makhi Carriere netted the overtime winner, while Deegan Bert and Heath Geekie rounded out the scoring.

Kaige Schafer turned away 41 shots to secure the victory.

Bell had a goal and three assists, and Noah Derouin had two goals and an assist in Saturday’s loss. Mason Eggen added two assists and Carriere potted a goal.

Keegen Stenger took the loss on 26 saves.

The Tigers (14-14-0) are back in action Saturday against the Oilers in Okotoks.

U15 AAA boys

SEAC’s U15 AAA Tigers strung together a pair of wins over the weekend, 4-3 over the Calgary Northstars on Saturday and 3-2 over the Knights of Columbus Squires on Sunday.

Captain Josiah Jackson led Saturday’s offence with a goal and two assists, while Ty Hynes, Kayden Yeaman and Joey Clark rounded out the scoring.

Adler Ames turned away 25 shots to earn the win.

Jackson added two assists Sunday, while Grady Ford, Hudson Gainer and Theron Bensler all scored in the win.

Ames stopped 25 again for the victory.

The Tigers (12-13-2) get back to it on the road Friday against the Grande Peace Golden Arrow Storm.

U15 AA girls

The Southern Express U15 AA team picked up a pair of victories over the weekend, 4-3 over the Rocky Mountain Raiders and 4-0 over Calgary Fire Red.

Julie Barlow led the offence Saturday with a pair of goals, while Marley Howes had two assists, and Beth Burton and Jessica Hudson had individual goals.

Taya Christie stopped 24 shots in net.

Barlow had two more goals Sunday, bolstered by individuals from Burton and Howes.

Brooklynn Adams stopped 22 shots for the shutout.

The Express (13-6-2) are back on the ice Saturday against the Olds Grizzlies.

U13 A girls

Medicine Hat’s U13 A girls hockey team won back-to-back games on the weekend, 3-1 over Stettler on Saturday and 7-2 over Okotoks on Sunday.

Brooke Watts led Saturday’s offence with three assists, while Teagan Torgerson had two gals. Sydney Broesky and Aviana Velichko rounded out the scoring, and Katie Hilton stopped 23 shots for the win.

Isabella Ferguson helped keep the Hat in the win column with two goals Sunday, while Watts and Neveah Ross had individual tallies and Hilton stopped 13 shots in goal.

Medicine Hat (7-5-1) is back in action on the road Saturday against West Central.

U13 AA boys

The Medicine Hat Hounds Black U13 AA team dropped a 7-5 game to Red Deer Motors on Saturday at the Hockey Hounds Arena.

Statistics from the game were not available.

The Hounds (11-10-1) return to the ice Saturday to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes Red at the Hockey Hounds.
