It was a strong weekend for the Southern Alberta Hockey Academy’s men’s and women’s teams. The women’s U18 team got their weekend started with an 2-1 overtime win against Edge prep on Friday. Kiyra Kletzel tied the game up in the first for SAHA and Kendal Davidson scored the OT winner. Devyn Amundson picked up the win between the pipes, stopping 35 of the 36 shots she faced in 62:22 of action. They did not have the same success in their Saturday game against Edge, losing 8-3. Brianna Fink had two of SAHA’s goals with Davidson notching their third goal in the loss. Maddy Fergusonn was in net for SAHA in the loss, turning aside 31 shots. SAHA’s women’s team is back in action this weekend with three games in B.C. The U18 SAHA men’s team won two of their three games at home against Rink Winnipeg this weekend. SAHA beat Winnipeg 4-3 Friday night on the back of Elijah Anderson, who had two goals, including the game winner. Sahne Smith had their first goal of the game, Brock Lott picked up the win in net with 26 saves. SAHA carried the momentum into Saturday and beat the Rink prep team 5-2. D-man Josh Van Mulligan led the way with three assists as Anderson had two goals for a second consecutive game. Ephram McNutt, Sammy hynes and Braxton Thornton rounded out the scoring for SAHA with one goal a piece. Zack Zahara had the win between the pipes with 29 saves. They could not sweep the weekend as Winnipeg won 5-3 on Sunday. Elias Eisenbarth, McNutt and Anderson and SAHA’s goals and Zahara made 33 saves in the loss. Their next contest is Saturday on the road against Northern Alberta Extreme. 8
