The Medicine Hat College Rattlers women’s basketball team fell a few buckets short in Olds Friday, dropping a 76-70 contest to the Broncos. The Rattlers shook off a slow first quarter – trailing 17-9 entering the second – and managed to take a two-point lead into the fourth, but the Broncos outscored Medicine Hat 28-20 in the final frame to secure the victory. Jasmine Gardiner led the Rattler offence with a game-high 30 points, while Tatiana Dutka had a game-high 16 rebounds in the loss. Mackenzie Hooson led Olds with 17 points and 10 board for the double-double. Medicine Hat went 26-for-71 from the field for a 36.6 shooting percentage, while Olds just edged out the Rattlers in that category, going 29-for-77 for 37.7 per cent. The setback drops Medicine Hat to 5-6 on the ACAC season, while Olds climbed to 2-7 with the win. The Rattlers and Broncos hit the hardwood at the Big Marble Go Centre on Sunday afternoon for a 2 p.m. rematch. Both men’s basketball games were postponed due to COVID. 9
