Oilers 50/50 to help support health-care workers in Alberta

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on January 27, 2022.

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation announced that Operation Frontline Impact will receive the net proceeds from their progressive 50/50 occurring between Jan. 25 and today, during which the Oilers will have played the Vancouver Canucks and will take on the Nashville Predators.

The pledged funds will go to provide additional mental health and wellness supports for frontline workers, along with equipment and items that can help them perform their duties safely and more effectively, and preserve their mental and physical health.

Operation Frontline Impact is a partnership between 39 hospital foundations all throughout Alberta. The group came together last year to support frontline workers in our province, recognizing the severe strain they’ve been under.

This marks the second time the EOCF has pledged proceeds toward Operation Frontline Impact, last year donating $2.2 million from the progressive 50/50 raffle occurring in the first two games of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Funds from the last EOCF donation were used by the foundations to provide increased mental health and wellness resources, including the expansion of counselling services and the creation of break rooms and rest areas for frontline workers.

Tickets can be purchased at edmontonoilers.com/5050 with sales closing at 11 p.m. tonight.
