Ringette Roundup: Mavens undefeated during weekend on the road

The U19B Mavens were in Calgary Sunday for two league games.

In their first game they tied the South Calgary Storm 3-3. The Mavens offence came from Nolah Reid, Hailey Sanders and Leah Mason.

The Mavens followed the tie up with a 6-3 win against the North West Calgary Heat.

Raynah Gibney led the offence with two goals with Serina Grona, Leah Jetter, Callie Johnson and Reid rounding out the scoring with one goal a piece.

Abby Guest was between the pipes for the Mavens on the weekend.

They’re back in action with another weekend series at the Kinplex on Feb. 5 and 6 against the Bowview Blaze and Airdrie Rampage.

U12

The U12B Surge were in action this weekend for the first time since the Christmas break. They faced the Indus Lightning for a pair of games.

The Surge showed rust in the first game and fell to Indus 19-4. Sloane Berstad had a hat trick for the Surge and Breanna Lanuk added a goal of her own to round out the scoring. Tia Van Maarion picked up a had two assists in the loss and Lacey Gibney added a helper. Taking the loss in goal for the first game was Sophia Smith.

Game two was a bit closer for the Surge, but they ultimately fell 8-2. Brea Butterfield and Pacey Haskett picked up the Surge’s goals with Berstad picking up an assist. In goal for the second Surge loss was Emma Pinnell.

The next action for the Surge is Feb. 12 when they travel to Calgary to face the Bow View Surge and Northwest Rebels.

U16

The U16 Goal Diggers returned to ringette action on Sunday, hosting the Airdrie Hellraisers for a pair of Chinook League games.

In the first game, the Goal Diggers skated away with an 11-1 win. Leading the charge was Pacie Harper with two goals and three assists. Jordan Weisgerber added two goals and two assists and Hannah Thompson had three goals and one assist in the big win. Rounding out the scoring was Sophie Kerr with two goals and Savannah Savoy and Avery Weisgerber with a goal a piece.

In the second game, The Goal Diggers scored fast and often, building an 8-3 lead at the half en route to an 11-7 victory. Kasey Martin, Thompson, and Jaida Waldegger led the way each with a pair of goals. The rest of the Goal Diggers offence came from Brooklyn Schlenker, Kerr, Harper, Avery Weisgerber and Jordan Weisgerber who had one goal each.

Kyree Stern-Rebmann was in net for both games picking up two wins and running the team’s record to 9-2-1.

The next action for the Goal Diggers is Saturday when they travel to Calgary to take on the Bowview Aftershock for a pair of games.
