The Medicine Hat College Rattlers women’s basketball team made its second signing for the 2022-23 season. The Rattlers announced via Instagram Tuesday they have signed Brynn Bremner from Brooks Composite High School. Bremner said in the post she chose to sign with the Rattlers for the upcoming Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season because of the team environment. “… (The) work ethic the players and coaches have created there. Everyone seems to have a competitive spirit that is really admirable and contagious,” Bremner said. She will be taking open studies while she attends the college and suits up for the Rattlers. Rattlers women’s basketball coach Clayton Nielsen said in the post that Bremner made an impression on the team during their Christmas camp, and she fits the plan of Rattlers basketball. “Brynn is a highly skilled, hard working player that impressed the first time we watched her practice,” Nielsen said. “She made a great impression with the current players and staff during our Christmas camp. She fits our plan, building a team that is athletic, quick and hardworking. We know Brynn will contribute and grow into a very good player for Rattler Women’s Basketball.” Bremner is the second player signed by the Rattlers in January for next season. Medicine Hat added Bryanne Jones from Taber earlier in the month. Nielsen said the two signings show the college’s commitment to local recruiting. “In adding another athlete from Southeastern Alberta, we are continuing our commitment to recruiting local, talented, hardworking people,” Nielsen said. The Rattlers women’s basketball team last played on Dec. 4., when they beat St. Mary’s University 66-64 in the final minute of play. That win was the Rattlers final game before they hit the Holiday break with a 2-4 record in the unofficial first half of the season. Their first game back in action in 2022 is in the Gas City on Friday, when they take on Ambrose University for the first time this season. That game is at the Big Marble Go Centre and tips off at 8 p.m. 12
