U14 Impact sweep weekend at home

The Medicine Hat Impact U14 ringette team had a strong weekend as they swept their doubleheader against the Bow View Renegades on Saturday, 7-3 and 8-4.

In the first game, Jordy Provost had two goals, Ryleigh Jackiw and Leighton Wright had a goal and an assist each, Kensie Provost contributed a goal and two assists and Ava Allchurch and Sutton Provost each knocked in a goal of their own.

Reese Tabor added two assists and Ericka Want picked up a helper as well in the win.

The Impact doubled up Bow View in the second game, with two goals and an assist from Jordy Provost, while Ryleigh Jackiw had two goals and two assists to lead the Impact offence.

Erika Want, Sutton Provost, Kensie Provost and Leighton Wright all scored one goal each.

The Impact’s other assists came from Maren Berstad and Margot Kerr who each had two and Rachel Rue who had one.

The Impact head into the Christmas break with a 6-3-1 record in their Ringette Calgary League.

U16

The U16 Goal Diggers collected one of four possible points last Saturday when they travelled to Lethbridge to take on the undefeated Rattlers. The Goal Diggers lost a close first game 7-6 before battling out a 7-7 tie.

The Goal Diggers started slow falling behind 3-0 the first 15 minutes of the game. They settled down and took a 4-3 lead at the half. Lethbridge received some lucky bounces in the second half en route to the win. Goal scorers for the Goal Diggers were Sophie Kerr, Pacie Harper, Brooklyn Schlenker, Grace Ammann, Isabella Heinrichs and Hannah Thompson. Linsey Bechtold turned aside 24 of the 31 shots she faced in the loss.

In Game 2, the Goal diggers came out strong scoring three goals early before tying the Rattlers 7-7.

In the second half injuries started adding up for the Goal Diggers as Bechtold had to be removed from the game. Avery Weisgerber stepped in and took over between the pipes.

With a 1:30 left in the game, the Diggers were down by one and scored two goals in 22 seconds to take the lead.

The Rattlers came down the ice with 13 seconds left and snuck one past Weisgerber to tie the game up at 7-7. Harper led the Diggers with three goals while Kasey Martin, Amman, Jordan Weisgerber and Thompson chipped in with a goal each.

The Goal Diggers are 7-2-1 in league play heading into the Christmas break. Their next action is Jan. 23 when Airdrie comes to the Hat.

U19

The U19 A Gators travelled to Lethbridge Sunday and went undefeated against the Rattlers with a 10-5 win and a 6-6 tie.

Marin Sinclair had three goals in the opening victory. Andie Suhai had two and Dimitria Karamanos, Sydney Anderson, Amanda Robinson, Allison Mason and Jaelyn Siewert each had a goal.

Kylie Kallenberger had a hat trick in the 6-6 tie and Karamanos, Mason and Siewert each added a goal of their own.

The Gators are in action Saturday as they host the Airdrie Chaos for a doubleheader.
