SAHA roundup: Female squad wins a pair

South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U18 female prep squad rallied to a pair of victories over the weekend, 2-1 against RINK Winnipeg Saturday and 2-1 again in a shootout over Okanagan on Sunday.

Téa Pearce and Riley Gramlich scored SAHA’s goals in Saturday’s win, backed by a 20-save performance from Maddy Ferguson.

Brianna Fink scored Sunday’s regulation tally, then Sakura Ito and Janaya Laqua scored in the shootout to clinch the victory.

Ferguson stopped 33 shots in the win, as well as four shooters in the skills competition.

The victories put SAHA at 4-7-0 on the Canadian Sport School Hockey League season. They return to the ice Dec. 17-19 for three games against the Northern Alberta Xtreme.

U18 male prep

SAHA’s U18 male prep squad went 1-1-1 over the weekend with a 4-3 loss to OHA Edmonton on Friday, a 2-1 shootout loss to Edge School on Saturday and a 7-5 win over International on Sunday.

Ephram McNutt led SAHA in Sunday’s win with two goals and two assists, while Elijah Anderson had a goal and three helpers, Dayden Collier had one of each, and Josh Perreault, Kohen Morrison and Sammy Hynes added individual tallies.

Cooper Prive stopped 22 shots for the win.

Grady Hauk scored the lone goal for SAHA on Saturday, while Zack Zahara stopped 27 shots before falling in the shootout.

Elias Eisenbarth had a goal and an assist Friday, while Josh Van Mulligen and Braxton Thornton rounded out the scoring. Brock Lott stopped 16 shots in the loss.

SAHA sits at 12-4-0 following the weekend. They hit the road Friday to face Edge School.
