The Hockey Hounds trophy is heading down Highway 7 to Martensville.

The Martensville Marauders clinched the 48th annual U15 AAA Hockey Hounds tournament title after beating Okotoks 5-0 Sunday afternoon. Martensville advanced to the finals after beating the SEAC Tigers 3-2 on Saturday night.

Kazden Mathies got the Marauders on the board in the first with an unassisted goal. That was the only offence in the frame, as Martensville carried the 1-0 lead into the second.

Kash Ringdal sparked a run of four unanswered goals for the Marauders in the second period, giving them their 5-0 final score.

The Marauders bus home was certainly a lot heavier than the trip in, as they captured not only the tournament trophy but multiple individual awards.

Mathies was named the most valuable player of the tournament and was also awarded with a $2,500 scholarship from the Medicine Hat Tigers and Maser family.

The other awards winners were: Jaxon Doyle (best defenceman, Okotoks); Luke Moroz (top round-robin scorer, Prairie Storm); Reese Hicks (most sportsmanlike, PAC Saints); Tyson Soloski (best coach, Airdrie).

Tournament all-stars were: forwards Mathies, Moroz, Lohlan Tetarenko (Okotoks), defencemen Doyle and Carsen Adair (Martensville), and goaltender Adler Ames (SEAC Tigers).
