The Medicine Hat Hounds fell just short of the final at the U18 AA Bill Kurucz tournament this weekend.
The Hounds went 3-1 in the round robin before falling 5-2 to the Calgary Northstars in the semifinal.
The Hounds (8-0-3) return to South Central Alberta Hockey League action Friday in Taber against the Golden Suns (2-7-1).
U13 AA
The Medicine Hat U13 AA Hounds Orange split their weekend on the ice with a 5-1 win over the Chestermere Lakers on Friday and a 6-0 loss to Airdrie Lightning on Saturday.
Ethan Grad, Brogan Verishine, Evander Leupold, Liam Green and Kian Lang all scored in Friday’s win, with Green adding an assist for a two-point night.
The Medicine Hat Hounds Black squad played one game on the weekend, falling 8-2 to the Golden Suns on Saturday in Taber.
Rhyder Arnold and Everett Ward scored the only goals for Medicine Hat in the loss.
The Hounds Black (7-2-0) return to the ice Friday to take on the Wheatland Braves in Strathmore.
The Hounds Orange (4-6-1) are also back in action Friday, taking on the Lakers in Chestermere
U15 AA
South East Athletic Club’s U15 AA Tigers went without a win over the weekend, settling for a 2-2 to tie with the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday before falling 3-2 to the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday.
Baker Thompson and Austin Murphy scored for Medicine Hat in the tie, while Parker McLaughlin stopped 23 shots to keep the Tigers out of the loss column.
Randen Collier and Kingston Chisholm scored to give SEAC and early 2-0 lead Saturday, but Okotoks rallied for three unanswered to steal away the win.
The Tigers (7-4-3) will be in Taber on Saturday to face the Golden Suns (3-7-0).
U16 AAA
South East Athletic Club’s U16 AAA Tigers went 1-1 this weekend with a 5-4 win over the Calgary Northstars Saturday and a 7-5 loss to the Okotoks Oilers Sunday.
Makhi Carriere led Saturday’s offence with two goals, while Chance Loke and Kellin Hodgson both had two assists, and Wyatt Dreger had one of each. Quade Vanderspruit and Noah Derouin both added individual tallies in the win.
Kaige Schafer stopped 24 shots for the victory.
Carriere added another goal and two assists, while Hodgson had one of each and Will Bell added two assists Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Tigers in the win column.
Ryder Stimson, Jesse Klimosko and Derouin added individual goals in the loss.
Keegen Stenger stopped 26 shots.
The Tigers (4-7-0) will be in Calgary Saturday to face the Bulls (4-7-0).
